Pursuant to Government Code Section 65995 et. seq. and Education Code Section 17620 et. seq., school districts are authorized to levy fees on new residential and commercial-industrial development to fund the school facilities necessary to accommodate the students from new development. Your city (or county, if you live in an unincorporated area) is required to withhold a building permit until the school district has certified that the fee has been paid.  For additional information about Developer Fees, contact Sandra Bush by phone:  650-947-1164 or email: sbush@lasdschools.org.

The current fee is $3.44 per square foot of assessable space (residential) and $0.56 per square foot of assessable space (commercial).  As authorized by state law, the fee may change from time to time (usually every two years).

To pay your fees, please bring your Certification of Compliance form to the district office where we will calculate the total amount due. Our hours of operation are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (closed for lunch from 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm). Our office location is: Los Altos School District, 201 Covington Road, Los Altos 94024.

Check payments must be made payable to Los Altos School District (LASD). We do not accept credit card payments at this time.
