Los Altos School District (LASD) schools are regularly ranked in the top 1% of all schools in California. Parents and community members alike tell us that LASD schools help to improve the quality of life in our community and protect the value of our homes.
Local Schools Are Aging and in Need of Repairs
However, some of our school facilities are over 25 years old, aging, and in need of improvements. Locally controlled funding from a bond measure like Measure EE would allow us to complete essential repairs and upgrades to school roofs, windows, bathrooms, plumbing, wiring, and heating and cooling systems to provide a safe, healthy learning environment for all students.
Additionally, many classes are currently held in old, deteriorating portable classrooms that are well past their useful age, presenting safety issues for students. Measure EE would provide local funding to replace these aging portables with permanent classrooms.
Providing Ten Campuses for Our Ten Schools
Currently, ten of our community's schools are forced to share nine campuses. Measure EE funding could also be used to construct a tenth campus, helping relieve our junior high school overcrowding problem and providing an individual campus for each of our schools.
The Specifics of Measure EE
In order to complete identified repairs and upgrades across all our neighborhood schools, the LASD Board of Trustees has voted to place a $350 million bond measure, Measure EE, on the November 2024 ballot. Measure EE would cost taxpayers in the district $30 per $100,000 of a property's assessed (not market) value per year, while bonds are outstanding.
Funding from Measure EE could be used to:
